Within walking distance of the town and University Campus, Aberystwyth Golf Club will offer exciting and challenging golf for players of varying abilities. The fairways and greens are always in excellent condition and due to its unique terrain, the course is playable nearly all the year round. Visitors are most welcome.
The course was designed by the famous professional and six times Open Champion, Harry Vardon. On undulating land, the course is a hidden gem.
Golf was first played at Aberystwyth Golf Club on Coronation Day 1911. The full golf course was officially opened in the summer two years later after the completion of the 5th and 6th holes. The official opening took place with the staging of an exhibition match involving the French champion George Duncan and other professionals.
The 6119 yards, Par 70 course will not only give you an enjoyable round of golf, the scenic views will stay with you always.
A Hole-by-Hole guide to the course is available here.
Extract from report by Harry Vardon,1911:
“Having viewed the proposed site of the Aberystwyth Golf Course, I consider that you are very fortunate in the situation of the course, the views obtainable being second to none. Although not a seaside links, it is the next best thing to it”
