Thanks to Aled for his latest report
With the Summer Season drifting towards a climax and all the Major competitions at a semi or final stage, the last two Redvers Llewellyn qualifiers took place of late.
In the Redvers 5, Jonathan Evans with an excellent two over par 72 -8-64, further dropping his handicap to 7 led the way from Keith Thomas 94-26-68 (also losing a shot) with Nathan Jones 84-14-70 holding off Anthony Griffiths 72-2-70 on countback.
In Redvers 6 Dai Blair also lowered his handicap to 2 while returning a two under par 68-3-65 with Steven Jones 85-18-67 ( now down to 17) splitting the low handicappers in second place, beating Phil Richards 68-1-67 and Tim Jenkins 70-3-67 on back nine scoring.
On the following Sunday despite some unfavourable weather, the low scoring continued in an extra stableford which resulted in Phil Richards becoming a scratch golfer, due to his return of 40 points off one. Jeremy Edmunds continued his steady improvement over the Summer was the best of the players on 39 points off 8 from Ioan Richards 39 points off three and Ben Shaw 39 points off seven. All three dropped a shot off their handicap.
Meanwhile the Rabbits entertained Glynhir in the Dyfed Leaque and had a good home win of 4½ to 1½, while the Tigers who are in a promotion fight travelled to Cardigan and returned with a very good 3½ to 3½ tie to still be in with a shout of moving up a league.
A good turnout of players attended the Penrhos Open Week Competitions and came away with several successes. In the Open Gross Competition Richard James was the winner while Aled Bebb led the way in the Open Seniors. Anthony Wyn Jones came second and third in two Open Stablefords and Harvi Singh came third in an open Stableford.
Congratulations to Jack Rimmer a rising club junior who achieved a hole in one on the tenth hole at Cardigan in the home clubs Junior Open.
