Despite the unpleasant conditions of the last six weeks, the golfers at the Aberystwyth club continued to challenge the course and managed to return some impressive scores.
In the last of the Autumn Stablefords, Mark Rimmer led the way with 37 points off 15 beating Wyn Pugh 37 points off 9 on countback, both losing a shot on their handicap. Third was Clive Davies with 33 points off 10 and Paul Rimmer, 31 points off 24 in fourth.
The first of the Winter Stablefords saw Ian Jones (13) with 38 points lead the way from three other golfers all returning 38 points. Second on countback was Terry Davies (19), third Nigel Southgate (11) and fourth Jamie Rees off 13. Ian, Terry and Jamie all dropped a shot off their handicap.
The Winter League took off as usual being played optionally on the Saturday or the Sunday. In the first, Paul Carr led the way with 37 points off 27. Second was Clive Davies (10) whose 36 points beat Trevor Davies’(9) 36 points on countback. J. W. Davies (6) was fourth with 34 points.
In the next League game, Clive Davies (10) came out on top losing a stroke with his 39 points return. Second was Terry Davies(18 )37 points and Wayne Gornall (10) 35 points and Paul Carr (27) 33 points in third and fourth respectively.
Finally in a four ball better ball competition with a score of 45 points Dai Christopher and Wyn Pugh led the way. Second with 44 points was the Barry Crawford and Jeff Jones-Hughes pair, with Mark Deveraux and Mike Jones on 43 points, the couple in third place.
