All the knockout competition were completed by the beginning of Autumn allowing a Grand Presentation evening to proceed.
Food was provided by Nick and all the guests were treated to a musical evening by Kedma.
The most successful singles player was Matthew Evans who combined his duties as one of the Club Greenkeepers while also enhancing his playing ability in Club competitions.
In the Presidents Putter, Matthew beat Justin Quinn by 2 and 1 while losing semi - finalists were Simon Edwards and Pat Jones.
Matthew again took the honours in the Captain’s Cup, narrowly beating Harvi Singh over 36 holes being 2 up at the last. Losing semi-finalist here were Bryn Shepherd and Emlyn Thomas.
In the Vice Captain’s Plate two Penrhyncoch players went head to head with Arwyn Morris beating Terry Richards 2 and 1.
The Club Matchplay Champion was Pat Jones who comfortably beat Anthony Griffiths 5 and 4 with Jack Rimmer and Ioan Richards the other semi-finalists.
In the Club Foursomes Final. Llanilar youngsters Jack Rimmer and Sion Edwards beat their more experienced opponents Pat Jones and Ioan Richards by 6 and 5. Losing semi-finalists were the Martin Harries and Martyn Haynes pair and Mathew Evans and Bryn Shepherd.
Pat Jones and Ioan Richards compensated for their loss in the Club Foursomes by winning the Captain’s 4 Ball Better Ball competition beating Daniel Bassnet and Graham Sanders by 5 and 4. The unfortunate losing semi-finalists were again Mathew Evans and Bryn Shepherd and the veteran pair of Huw Williams and Aled Bebb.
Appropriately in the year of his Captaincy, Barry Phipson won the Redvers Llewellyn Shield. Having qualified throughout the summer, 32 players went head to head in the final. Club Captain Barry Phipson kept his best golf of his year for this prestigious final returning a 75-7-68 round that saw his handicap also drop to 6. Also dropping a shot off their handicaps were runners up Gerwyn Pugh 80-10-70 and Martin Harries 79-8-71 in third. Fourth losing out on back nine countback was Chris Tapp on 79-8-71.
With the completion of the Summer programme and the playing off of the finals, the Autumn schedule began with two Stablefords.
In the first Chris Tapp continued his good form with 37 points off his 8 handicap. Runner up was Jeremy Edmunds 33 points off 6 beating Clive Davies 33 off 10 on countback and Emyr Jones 32 off 14 fourth.
In the other Stableford, there were two outstanding returns. Jamie Morgan lead the way with 44 points off 23 with his handicap plunging to 19. Also dropping two shots on his handicap was Ceri John who returned 41 points odd 19. Third was Graham Saunders with 37 points off 11 and Jeremy Edmunds; 34 points off 6 in fourth.
The Rabbits continued their up and down season travelling to Glynhir and losing by 5 matches to 1. The Seniors also brought their season to an end travelling to Borth and Ynylas who had revenge for their loss at Aberystwyth with a 3 ½ to 1 ½ win for the home side.
The Tigers had an unfortunate finish to their season by losing a match at home to Carmarthen by 5 matches to 4 when a handsome victory would have seen them win the league.
Finally on a positive note, congratulations are due to Alun John and Terry Richards who travelled to Borth and Ynyslas for their final 4 Ball Better Ball Seniors Open of the Summer and with a forty three point, they returned as overall winners.
