With the Autumn programme up and running, the last of the Summer K.O. competitions were played. In the Captain’s Cup Martin Harries overcame Dylan Morris with Harvi Singh and Steve Hughes the unlucky semi-finalist. Bringing the Summer K.O. competitions to an end was the Captain’s 4BBB final played between eventual winners Aneurin Thomas and Martin Harries, who comfortably beat J.W. Davies and Mark Rimmer by 5 and 4. The losing semi-finalist were Chris O’Rouke / Clive D Williams and Harvi Singh / Jeremy Edmunds.
The early Autumn programme consisted of a series of Stableford competitions with a play off for the top players at the end. With the weather favourable and the course reverting to a shorter winter length, some excellent scores were returned and handicaps were sent tumbling.
In Autumn Stableford 1 Trevor Stables led with 28 points off 32 from Gerwyn Pugh second on 38 off 9. Emyr Jones 37 off 14 was third with Paul Rimmer 37 off 25 fourth. The three leaders all dropped a shot on handicap.
In Stableford 2 Trevor Stables further dropped his handicap from 21 to 18 with a field destroying 45 points off 21. Also losing a shot was Arwyn Morris 39 off 16 second with Chris Tapp 37 off 9 and Clive Davies 36 off 10 the best of the rest.
In Stableford 3 Jamie Morgan with 44 points off 28 so his allowance drop considerably as he led from Clive Davies 40 off 10, Anthony Griffiths 40 off 4 and Daniel Basnett 38 off 9. Inevitably all three lost a shot.
Stableford 4 saw the high scoring continue with Ray Dodd dropping his handicap by 2 with a 42 off 19 return to win from Martin Harries 40 off 9 (now off 8) and Nigel Southgate 37 off 13 and Bryn Shepherd 36 off 14 in the minor placings.
The end of October saw the traditional Tigers and Rabbits played in a Texas Scramble form. Leading the way was the Club Captain Tim Jenkins’ team of Dai Blair, Trevor Stables and Steve Williams with the Ioan Richards led team of Peter Basnett, Ian Jones and Club President John Wooton runners up. Ioan Richards’ team also had the best return on the par threes.
Dyfed League also came to an end with Tigers travelling to South Pembs and just losing by 5 matches to 4 which saw them runners up in Division 1.
The Rabbits last match at home saw them beat Priskilly Forest by 4 ½ to 1 ½ .
The Seniors brought their season to an end with a good away win at Borth and Ynyslas by 3 ½ to 2 ½. They played 12 matches winning 10 and losing just 2 away matches to Cilgwyn and Penrhos.
Now that the Club is slowly transferring to the Winter programme all members were very pleased to see the continuing success of local golfer Richard James on his Euro Tour. We all wish him all the best in his attempts to reach the next stage in his effort to play at the highest level.
