The winter programme got into it's stride with the unseasonably weather, and particularly true and receptive greens combined with the shortened winter course resulted in both excellent turnout of members and impressive scores.
In an Extra Stableford Tom O'Connor reminded us that though form is somewhat tidal, that class is permanent with a particularly good return of 42 points edging out JAV Roberts, Carl Jones and Justin Quinn all on 41 points.
The winter league also started with turnouts of between 60 and 70 players were experienced. In Winter League 1 Jeremy Edmunds continued his recent good form with 42 points leading from Trefor Evans 41 points with Dylan Morris and Mike Morris both on 40 points. In Winter League 2 Barry Pugh led with 40 points from Mike Daniel and Anthony Evans both on 38 points with Bob Richards returning to form with 37 points.
During this period the Llanilar cut throat has been running it's weekly Turkey Trail played over six consecutive weeks were the best 4 returns will count. At the halfway stage with 3 weeks gone Billy Morris, having had two 40 points rounds is the man to catch, but with Christmas approaching and three more rounds to go it's all to play for in that chase for that elusive Turkey.
Finally at a recent General Meeting at the club Joyce Blair (Junior Organiser) announced that Rhodri Evans was the Junior Golfer of the Year. He was presented his award by Club President Richie Jenkins. Rhodri has progressed in leaps and bounds this year appearing in the winners enclosure in both Junior and Senior Competitions culminating with his success in the Vice Captain Plate
