Steve Williams, Chris O’Rourke, Wayne Gornall and Tim Jenkins were runners up.
On the ‘Finals Day’, the leading teams played off for the Morlais Hughes Trophy which was won by Arwyn Morris, Huw Williams, Brian Isacc and Aled Bebb. Next were Martyn Harries, Jonathan Evans, Aneurin Thomas and Justin Quinn.
The Morlais Hughes Trophy was presented to the winning team by club veterans Wyn Hughes and Billy Owen – pictured above.
During the Winter League final, an extra Stableford also took place. In Division 1, Anthony Griffiths (5) led with 39 points from Ioan Rhys Richards, 38 points (off 7). In Division 2, James Jenkins (14) with 39 led Aled Bebb, 37 (off 14) and in Division 3 overall winner Trevor Stables (24) 40 points beat Ray Dodd 36 (off 20).
In the transition from Winter to Summer golf, the Tigers and Rabbits competition takes place. With a good turnout, some impressive scores were returned. Leading the way was the Dylan Morris and Paul Hagget duo with 47 (better ball stableford points) from Simon Edwards and Ray Dodd with 45 points. They beat Angharad Bassnet and Mark Rimmer, also 45points on the back nine.
At the end of the Winter, the Wednesday ‘Cut-throat’ celebrate with their Annual Dinner at the club. The Cut-Throat Shield is then presented to the most successful individual winner of the competitions throughout the year. Aled Bebb and Mike Bradley both had six wins but Aled Bebb was presented the Shield by cut-throat organiser Brian Blair due to the fact that he had more runner up positions than Mike Bradley.
