The Summer programme at Aberystwyth Golf Club is slowly drawing to a close with the finals of several competitions to be played.
The first of these to be completed was the Redvers Llewellyn final where 32 players from four qualifying rounds during the summer went head to head. Leading the way with 74-5-69 was Simon Edwards who also returned the best gross score. Second was Aneurin Thomas 78-8-70 with Ian Jones 84-12-72 third. Jeremy Edmunds 78-6-72 was fourth on countback.
An extra medal was played during the play off and with excellent 80-17-63 Graham Saunders Jnr was a comfortable winner dropping two shots on his handicap.
Prior to this, two Open Competitions took place. Firstly an Open Individual Stableford saw Ben Willis 40 points off 25 lead the field with K.Smith (Swindon) 38 off 18 second, Gareth Whalley (Royal Navy) 35 off 6 third. Trevor Davies 35 off 9 was fourth.
Following this, a Four Ball Better Ball Open took place where the man in form Graham Saunders Jnr combined with his father Graham Saunders Snr scored 44 points just beating Dai Blair and Trevor Davies 43 points in second. Third was the Noel Scott – JAV Roberts duo on 42 points beating Martin Haynes and Emyr Jones also 42 points on the back nine.
In the Dyfed League the Tigers continued their excellent end of season form beating visitors Glynhir by 9 matches to nil meaning that they go into their final match against Newport, Pembs knowing a win will result in promotion to the first division for next year.
The Seniors in their penultimate match entertained Penrhos Seniors and a five two win saw them complete the double over their neighbours.
