Belfast Marathon (04-06-2014)
John Scullion runs his first Marathon raising money for Marie Curie in the process.
Congratulations to John Scullion who recently completed the Belfast Marathon in 3hrs 57mins. This was John’s first ever marathon and his impressive time was achieved on a hilly marathon course. The fact that John is not 21 any more made the achievement even more remarkable. He also came 5th in his age category.
Even more impressive was the money he has raised, over £1100 in total. £350 was raised from golf club members + the £70 John has chipped in himself (£1 for every £5 raised as promised). His justgiving site (http:/www.justgiving.com/John-S) is still open if anyone else is desperate to make a donation.
John has already sent off two cheques to Marie Curie. He would like to thank everyone at the club for their generosity even though it inflated his own contribution.
Tired legs after 20 miles are not a lot of fun but not as bad as the stick the cut throat boys would have dished out had he failed to complete the full distance.
