The Winter League Finals Day bought to an end the Winter programme at Aberystwyth Golf Club. On the day the leading individual was Steve Hughes with 40 points off 7 with Lloyd Evans losing out on the back nine also 40 points off 21 but beating Julian Dotchon 40 points off 23 on the back three. Terry Davies was fourth with 39 points off 19. The winning team with 113 points was Martin Groom, Keith Jones, Johnny Ireland and Charlie Taylor. Runners up were Adrian Davies, Terry Davies, Ray Dodd and club captain Clive Williams on 112 points who also were the best team in the nine qualifying rounds. The best individual of the qualifying rounds was Phil Talco.
Traditionally the transition from Winter to Summer Golf sees the Tigers and Rabbits competition held with low handicappers playing alongside high handicappers. Another excellent turnout saw club captain Clive Williams and partner Steve Williams lead the way with 54 points narrowly holding off Huw Williams and Hefin Lewis also 54 points on countback and Martin Haynes and Wayne James third on 53 points.
Despite the course reverting to its full length the scores continued to be impressive and in an extra Stableford Jack Rimmer led the way with 39 points off 9 with Stephen Jones 38 points off 16 holding off Julian Dotchon also 38 points off 23 on countback and Paul Weston 37 points off 14 in fourth.
Then on the first weekend of April the first round of the Summer Stableford was held and saw John Wooton winning with 39 points off 16 followed by Adrian Davies 38 points off 11 and James Harvey 37 points off 12. This was followed on the Sunday with the first medal of the year, the first qualifying round of the Redvers Llewelyn Shield. Winner was Martin Haynes with 82-12-70 with Jack Rimmer 80-8-72 beating Ian Jones 85-13-72 in third and Dylan Morris fourth with78-6-72 on the back nine.
