The 2013 British Amateur Championships (23-06-2013)
The 2013 British Amateur Championships were played this week down on the Kent coast.
The qualifying courses were Royal Cinque Ports, just north of Deal & Prince's, Sandwich.
(Between these two courses, the Open venue, Royal St George’s is situated).
Altogether, 288 of the world's leading amateurs participated in a 36 hole qualifying competition. By tying for 5th place, our own Richard James avoided the first round of the match play event. In the second round, he defeated Riccardo Michelini 2&1, before being defeated by Australian Jordan Zunic by the same margin.
Altogether, it was an exceptional performance, well done Rich.
The final was won by Garrick Porteous from Bamburgh Castle on the Northumberland coast.
